Someone once said “it takes a genius to live a simple life” and I totally agree with that.

In this world of “dramatic distraction” and information overload it is too easy to become overwhelmed, lose focus and be swept away from the things that matter most.

Here are 16 tips that I have learnt from other leaders, blogs and books, and have been trying to apply in my life to de-clutter, un-complicate and become more intentional about how I spend my time…

1. Turn off all technology for 60 minutes a day and focus on doing your most important work.

2. Don’t check your email first thing in the morning. (This one in particular has been life-changing for me!)

3. Start your day with exercise. (or even better, learn how to surf – no better way to start the day!)

4. Be obedient to the sabbath! (That means learning how to really rest and refuel – taking one full day a week as a complete recovery day.)

5. Learn to say no.

6. Plan your week ahead. (I spend 10 minutes every Sunday evening looking at my diary for the upcoming week and planning spaces for work, rest, exercise, relational meetings etc. It helps me to stay focused on that which is important and gives me permission to say no to that which isn’t.)

7. Don’t answer your phone every time it rings.

8. Get up early.

9. Go to bed early.

10. Eat a big healthy breakfast.

11. Clean out your closets. Get rid of things you never wear or don’t use anymore.

12. Stop watching TV. Or at least cutback to no more than 1hr per day. (Jess and I haven’t had a TV for the nearly 6 years we’ve been married. When you don’t have it, you simply don’t miss it.)

13. Make sure you plan a decent holiday break once a year. (I find it should be at least 10 days for it to become truly regenerative.)

14. Learn to protect your time. The data says workers are interrupted every 11 minutes. Distractions destroy productivity and complicate your life.

15. Do your banking online.

16. Use Evernote. Seriously, it’s an amazing piece of software.

In the end, it’s about priority. About deciding what really matters and, as Stephen Covey says, “putting first things first”! And so, as you simplify your life, may it increase your productivity and grant you a greater sense of purpose, and may it bring you great freedom and peace.

對香港的感覺已經不是一年前的感覺。

週五回上海，香港轉。

很奇怪的，我没有想到过去一年项目上的任何时刻，我只是记起很久以前的香港，那个PwC终面+德勤粤语群面的日子，傍晚走出金钟太古的时候，真的想找个地方宣泄一场。其实想一想，那个眼泪才有意义多一点…现在算什么…怎么越活越不在档上呢…

留着力气干活吧。涂两笔，告诫自己，要再犀利点，再醒目点才行~

不认识的童鞋，我来介绍一下。Z老板是俺们公司的principal，至少在这个8月还会是。principal做的事和project leader差不多，简而言之就是管下面人做事，和客户沟通，向老大汇报的人。对于广大人民来说，project leader是最关键的人，重要性体现在，他的综合能力同你的睡眠时间又直接关系。

Z老板在俺看来，称得上是个完美的principal了。想东西的思路清晰，写计划方向明确，说道理头头是道。对外搞得定客户，对内十分体恤手下兵将。  除此之外，Z老板为人还极其谦逊和随性，一点都不给人压力，十分鼓励大家思考。（我只能表示他不超过170cm的个头绝对是老天爷妒忌他了… …）

不久前，Z老板意味深长的同我们说，“我想了想哦，这个咨询啊，做到最大也就是合伙人了。这个模式有他致命的局限性，那就是咨询永远以时间来收费。合伙人做吐血，每年也就十几个项目。不像其他的企业，我可以不断的扩大，收购其他公司，开展新的业务，进军新的市场。你说做合伙人吧，大中华老大其实也卖项目吃饭，个么让我做全球老大，这个好像也有点那啥不太可能哦。。。”

Z老板昨天说，“留下来，基本上，我也可以看到我以后干些什么了。没什么意思也没什么挑战性。”

想想也是，做一个老板，周围人都觉得你完美了，于是你就好像是一个为了人民而活着的公仆，确实是有点浪费了。个么，老板你去玩更大的吧！俺以后也要做有能力有原则有爱心并且燃烧别人小宇宙的老板啊~

今天吃了一顿很悠长的晚餐，和我最近很爱的一位欢乐文艺女青年（脑子里瞬间滑我女人的印象）。真心觉得好久没有和我的笑点还有跳跃程度这么搭的人了。

感谢这个坑爹的case让我遇到这么多形形色色奇奇怪怪充满故事的人们，我想我的价值观最终是会被拗回来的=)

Ping还是老样子。想来那个时候他说consulting难进，他Bschool出来想进，没要他。结果，今天我递上一张consulting的名片。本来是要访谈高端人士的，他反倒是像做case interview一样，帮我理思路。

今天女人又quote了我，原来有时候，好像该恭喜的时候，其实该送上安慰。

被莫名@到台湾的往事。说好了八月底要去台湾吗？敢想敢做=）

这些天，见了久未谋面的远方的朋友，去了一直存着想去的地方。

过了很久发现，原来离开了某个地方，并不是那么容易找到处处都“聊得来”的伴，不过大概长大就应该是这样的。

学着去适应那些不习惯，试着去攻克“抓头皮”的任务。走了几步，回头看看也还好。可能比GPA要复杂点，但也慢慢有进步不是。

时常打来“最近好吗”的闺蜜今日来电，于是很高兴，因为他听起来真的很阳光。其实快乐真的好简单的，只是收到一张阳光灿烂的问候，只是听一句，“今后就是好好工作，偶尔去人民广场吃吃饭”，只是宅一个下午，看喜欢的杂志，就很觉得幸福。

睡前看到Andy转来的韩寒的文，竟觉得标题全然不是讽刺。

我是真想说，我在上海，活得很好。

不求一帆风顺，但求心怀幸福与希望。

今天去上了Presentation skill class。末了Joan说，其实每一次这样的session只要带走一两点心得，把它真的记住了，就已经是很大的提高了。所以我今天带走的是，

第一，Paradigm shift。与人处事，要设身处地的去了解别人是带着怎样的眼光来听你所说的话，同时也要试着去让别人了解你所在的位置，这样才能够更好的沟通，并让别人理解赞同你的观点。

第二，其实因为思考而停顿是并不是一件让人害怕的事情，不需要去紧张，因为在场的人都会因此而更加关注你接下来要说的话，这不正是你担心无法掌控的么？

还有一个有意思的地方是说，要找到自己最舒服的姿势来做presentation，要找到自己的声线的共振点(Resonance)，这样才能最有效的做presentation。（我果断想到了林志玲）表示这个实在太诡异了，而且还说洗澡的时候是最容易找的。牛牛说，唱歌的时候比较容易找，好吧，那我下次去K歌貌似就有一个比较高尚的理由了。

最后最后，从Joan的身上意识到，其实某些场合从头到尾都要树立一个很professional的形象。墩墩最近也有让我感觉到这一点。很多时候我怎么就不由自主的散发出小朋友的气场了呢？！ Do I have my own personal brand position? How should I present/position myself?

于是我又想到Vincent(our high school student look partner)那天开阶段会议对马姐(lovely Taiwai consultant in my branding team) 说的，”Matilda, you picked a very good picture. But you probably didn’t notice. You’ve actually made a lot of subtle decision when you choose this picture as to show the brand position. You pick an American girl instead of an Asian.  She’s tanned. It feels like she’s going to a party.  And this is a picture with strong contrast.  …. So why do you make these choices? That’s what the client is looking for.  It’s not the picture itself.  “

So why do I make all those choices every day? Now I wish I have a psychology degree.

客户没有想清楚，说，“我们觉得这个问题很重要，请你们帮我们深入具体的分析一下。”

女人没有想清楚，说，“不合适，还是分手吧。”

男人没有想清楚，说，“我和我未婚妻没有感情了，我们可以不可以在一起?”

…

唔该，请你想清楚。

世界也好清净点。

“你想清楚没有，不行回去想想再来吧。”，

就像Parnter和客户说的。

=> 我以后一定要睡饱睡饱睡饱！发誓9点以后没吃晚饭就再也不吃了！我睡觉去了… 我下辈子要做不睡也不困的人=.=||
